O&E to Host Conference Highlighting NC State Engagement Programs

RALEIGH, NC — NC State University is gaining a national reputation for its efforts to develop talent, create innovation, and leverage our presence in key areas in North Carolina.

Join us on November 18 for a review of some of the distinctive programs NC State is developing and strategies we might undertake to move our community engagement efforts to a new level—through hands-on work with civic, education, business and nonprofit partners.

We will hear from three of NC State’s programs that are doing outstanding work in the community:
  • Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC): Developed in close collaboration with industry and community college partners, BTEC equips both traditional students seeking essential industry skills and professional workers looking to learn new protocols and techniques an opportunity to get hands-on training in the fast-changing field of biomanufacturing.
  • Entrepreneurship Clinic: Inspired by the university teaching hospital model, the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic integrates research, teaching and real-world experience by providing a place where faculty, students, entrepreneurs and service providers go to teach, learn and build the next generation of businesses in Raleigh.
  • Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA): NELA seeks to increase student achievement in northeastern NC by preparing and retaining principals in high-poverty, hard-to-staff, historically low-performing schools. Each component of the Academy is anchored in research-based best practices in leadership preparation and is designed to meet the specific contextualized needs of schools in North Carolina.

We will also be premiering a digital NC State engagement map and sharing new programs to get NC State faculty and students easily and directly involved in local engagement.

We hope you will join us in thinking about how we can do more.
