With K-12 schools across the country closed because of the COVID-19 crisis and many summer camps canceled, NC State’s Science House is launching a new resource to help students experience science from home.

The Science House Express, a new K-12 virtual STEM content resource for teachers, parents and students, will feature new content each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • Mondays: Selected science resources for teachers and parents
  • Wednesdays: A virtual science activity for K-12 students
  • Fridays: Fun Interviews with expert scientists

The first week’s theme,“ It Is Rocket Science,” focuses on hands-on activities, the history of rocketry and scientific breakthroughs in the field.

The Science House brings NC State’s STEM resources to K-12 educators, parents and students across the state. The program, which is housed on NC State’s Centennial Campus and has satellite locations in Asheville, Lenoir and Morehead City, typically hosts a number of hands-on workshops and programs for both teachers and students each summer.

“Since we’re not able to share our science resources in person this summer, we’re excited to have a way to do that virtually,” said Jason Painter, director of The Science House. “Our team is putting together resources that will help students learn science while showing them how much fun it can be.”
