Nominations are now open for two prestigious awards for your department’s most engaged scholars and teams.

Award decisions will be communicated early March 2025. Winners and their department heads will be invited to a ceremony and luncheon in April, at a date to be determined.

Governor James E. Holshouser, Jr. Award for Excellence in Public Service
To recognize sustained, distinguished, and superb achievement in public service and outreach, and contributions to improving the quality of life of the citizens of North Carolina. NC State’s finalist is submitted to the UNC System for consideration for this award.

Opal Mann Green Engagement and Scholarship Award
For teams who practice collaborative, democratic and inclusive engaged scholarship. Winners become eligible to be nominated for the W. K. Kellogg Foundation Community Engagement Scholarship Award.

  • Nominations due Friday, January 24, 5 p.m.
  • Eligibility: Teams can include community partners, staff, volunteers, extension and faculty
  • Submitting authority: Those who have observed the program OR self-nomination
