The Engagement Operations Council and the Office of Outreach and Engagement invites you to please consider nominees for the Governor James E. Holshouser, Jr. Award for Excellence in Public Service. You may nominate any faculty member you deem deserving, including a faculty member that may have been nominated in the past who was not chosen as the University’s nominee.
- Faculty members of any of the 17 institutions of the University of North Carolina are eligible.
- Sustained, distinguished, and superb achievement in university public service and outreach, and contributions to improving the quality of life of the citizens of North Carolina.
- The creativity and impact of a nominee’s achievements are of a magnitude that greatly exceeds the normal accomplishments of a productive faculty.
The Engagement Operations Council, in support of Leslie Boney and the Office of Outreach and Engagement, will identify the University’s nominee for the award.
NC State nominations for 2021 should follow the process below:
By Friday, September 24, O&E must receive the nominee’s: 1) CV indicating public service activities, and 2) a letter of nomination from the nominee’s Department Head. Due to the significance of this award, it is important that comments in the nomination letter be tailored to this faculty member’s engagement work and the integration of this work to their faculty duties.
The Engagement Operations Council will review the CVs and nomination letters. Once one representative is chosen to represent NC State, their department, and college will be contacted to provide content for the nomination package.
The completed application in Word (.doc or .docx) must be emailed by COB Friday, September 24, to Samantha Graham, Innovative Engagement Program Manager, at email@example.com.
